Update from Water Safety New Zealand

August 2024 - Connecting the Water Safety Community

Attitudes to Drowning

We believe it’s possible to reduce the burden of drownings, non-fatal drownings, and water-related injury. As part of this year’s World Drowning Prevention Day, we asked questions to spark thinking, share views, and raise issues with people inside and outside the water safety community. The focus on How many is too many?  will be used to guide our work on behaviour change strategies. You can expect to see and hear more as we advocate for water safety to be a higher priority for public health and community wellbeing.

We asked: How many drownings is too many?

Just under 1,000 people showed an interest in the poll.
