Every year, too many lives are lost to preventable drowning. The water safety challenge in Aotearoa is clear, and the time for action is now. The challenges faced in New Zealand are solvable. We all play a part and need to work together.

Why we need support

New Zealand’s drowning rate is improving, but preventable deaths remain unacceptably high. With legislation, education and behaviour change aligned, our country has a rare opportunity to significantly reduce future loss of life.

Water Safety NZ is exploring funding opportunities to maintain delivery and reduce drowning risks. We’re calling on Government, corporates and philanthropists for their support.

None of our critical work would be possible without the support of Sport NZ and the NZ Lotteries Grants Board.
